What do I get if I buy Zlauncher compared to the shareware version?

Also, is there anyway to get rid of the tabs on the top in Zlauncher? I have mega launcher right now and i can use the tabs or switch to how windows has the START button and all of my folders come down in a list.

Also how is the new XP skins for Zlauncher? thanks.

ZL is shareware. You get a 30 day trial and then make your decision on buying it or not

Dropdown menu/Options/ZL Preferences/Tab Mode/None

You can use tabs as well in ZL, Dropdown menu/Options/ZL Preferences/Tab Panel

Only system icons to my knowledge at this point.

I got rid of the tabs by clicking on "none" but now how to I switch between my menu's?

So no changing icons huh? That sucks, thats one of the reasons I liked Megalauncher.

Upper right corner of the ZL screen. Tap it and the menu should show. I'm still looking to see if there is a setting effecting this.

DropDown Menu/Options/TopBar Setup/Category (make sure it is checked and you will see top right corner have the categories)

Cool, I got the "start" menu like thing to work finally.

I'm still really dissapointed you cannot change the icons in Zlauncher other than the system icons.

I've been using Mega Launcher for about 2 months now and I've been playing with Zlauncher for a few days and I like megalauncher more.

Zlauncher has a lot of eye candy and that's about it. You can't change icons on your system bars, and there is always those stupid little arrows on the right side of the screen. It's just too messy for me no matter how i set it up.

I do like the new windows XP skin for it but I just can't customize the whole desktop like i can in megalauncher. I can add lots of icon packs to megalauncher and replance pretty much any icons i want, unlike Zlauncher i'm limited.

I also dont' like Zlauncher because i always want to click on the upper left hand corner icon to access my menus like in windows but it takes me to the app/tab/option/device menus instead.

To change icons for programs and such use a freeware program called AppIcon.

that will work in Zlauncher? Where can i get it?

Also is there anyway to get the "Start" type menu to appear on the bottom bar instead of the top one? I no i'm being really picky but it's just cleaner if i can click on a button on the bottom bar and it brings up a "Start Button" type menu like in windows so i can pick my catigories.

Well i've got appicon, but i can't figure out how to change the icons, i click on apply to change an icon but when i go back to the main screen the icons hasn't changed???? Any ideas? It changes the icon in regular palm os but it doesn't change the icon in Zlauncher? Are there any programs that can change icons in Zlauncher?

When I use AppIcon to change icons in Zlauncher i have to go to options then pick refresh apps. They always show up changed for me after doing that.

Very Interesting!!

It appears that ZLauncher icons can be used to replace ANY icons, not just system icons.

I just changed the icon for McFile and another program.

Can we change system icons to whatever we want?

Does anyone no where i can get some more Zlauncher backrounds because i don't no how to conver Jpegs or BMP's to the format Zlauncher recognizes.

SplashPhoto desktop is perfect for converting most images to jpg for ZLauncher backimages. I believe ZLauncher also can use Picturegear images for backimages.

It looks like you can change ANY icon. System icons and other program icons.

I just changed the icon for the program "Filz" and also ...... MegaLauncher.

Everytime i learn something new Zlauncher becomes better and better. I wish I could get some decent backrounds and change system icons but i don't no how. Wait until I give you guys my screen shot :)

If i try to change some system icons with APPICONS, it says "Can not apply icon to 'mail' which has an overlay. Other ones i change them, click on option refresh apps, they don't change.

How can you change the order of your catagories when you have them displayed as a list like the "start" button?

I'm not using APPICONS, I'm just using a modified ZLauncher iconset.

Unfortunately, no easy way to do this yet. (I'm modifiying the rcp file in my ZLauncher ThemeMaker program to do it.)

I just tried changing the Mail icon, and it worked OK.

Yea, appicons won't change my system icons, just other ones. Are there anyways around this? Also, are there any other icon sets for the catagories other than the ones Zlauncher gave us?

One more thing, is there anyway to change the size of the font on the clock? It seems really big and the time says "8:05p", instead of "8:05pm", or is this normal?

Take a tour of all the Preference settings. That will answer the majority of your questions. The bottom line is that virtually everything in ZL can be changed--fonts, tabs, colors, etc. Fonts are changed in Display Setup, the overall look and functions in ZL Preferences, the top tool bar in Top Bar Setup, etc. Look at some of mine and others' screenshots in the gallery section here on the source for some ideas on what's possible.

As to backgrounds, any YiShow or ZL background will work, provided it supports your display size. There are a host of them here on the Source and elsewhere on the web. Do a Google search. I just capture images off the web (NASA sites, etc.), size and/or crop them appropriately in MS Photo Editor (part of MS Office that isn't installed by default), then upload them to my T665C using MS Import.

I switched from ML, and am convinced that ZL is the best $12 you will ever spend on your handheld.

Man, I never realized what I was missing without having ZLauncher. I still like YiShow, so I guess my clie will have a split personality for a while.

I have been a die hard advocate of YiShow, but after less than 24 hours of playing with my newly purchased ZL, it does beat YiShow in several ways: file manager, customization of ALL bars, tabs, colors, etc. It is too early to tell, but I was experiencing numerous soft reset errors and someone said that getting rid of Yishow got rid of most of his, so that spured me to give ZL a try.

Now I already like the customization options of ZL better! ;)

are there any better icons programs like APPICONS? Some of the icons look good, and then again others on a dark backround or black backround, you can see a white outline, it looks like crap :(

Using AppIcon, go here:

Below the "Free downloads" part of the page, I recommend:

Bebop, Fenestrae, Vista

From the zip files, extract the largest one (hi-res) and drop them into the Install Tool and sync. Then open AppIcon and its drop down menu, SET/Import and load each of these icon dbs. After importing them you can free up your RAM by deleting the dbs as AppIcon has them in its own db. Good luck! ;)

As tanker_bob pointed out, most this stuff can be changed in the preferences. Those arrows can be removed for example, by going to Menu/Options/Top(or Bottom) Bar Setup. Then unchecking the 'Show Toggle Top Bar Button'.

are there any other programs like APPICONS, where i can change program icons because the ones I use look pretty good, but on a black or dark backround, you can see a white boarder, or some white pixles, not on all of them, just some.

Does anyone have any really good icons packs for APPICONS or any program? thanks

Your confusing me. You say that ZL is all about eye candy and then go on and on about changing the look of icons. I must have missed the opposite day designation as ZL has arguably more functionality than ML:)
