does anyone know what it's for?

more importantly, does anyone know if i can remove it? ;)

according to fileZ:
name = CPStamp
type = STMP
creator = PGPD
size = 136,143 bytes

thanks in advance.

It's not on my system, and I have 30+ apps on it - I've never seen this file before

backup, delete, and see what happens!

I think this file save holds the datebook pictures (if you've got any). PGPD are pictures, that's for sure.

thought of this of course ... but since i don't even know
which app may have put it on, it may be days, or even months,
before i get an error ... i'll have probably forgotten all about
it by then, and i'll end up posting: "why doesn't app such-and-
such work anymore ?"

in which case, i'll count on you reminding me about my
backed-up file ... :D

I'll gladly remind you!

What apps are you running or are there too many to list?

Its not the datebook pictures I use this feature and I do not have this file. It looks like Picture Gear Pocket though.

Palm's creator id databse has it but doens't list the associated app.

do you mean addressbook? i don't have any pictures for
any of my contacts.

if you really meant datebook ... then i don't understand. but it
wouldn't be the first time, so i'm used to it. :)

From what I can remember, I used to have a file by that name on my old N710. I believe it's part of the PhotoStand family of files. Did you grab any files from an older device?

nope. no map programs. (yet).

in an earlier post, you mentioned Picture Gear Pocket ...
that sounds familiar ... might've been something i messed with
in that first month of the new-clie-ownership-must-try-every-
piece-of-software stage. :)

Well I was just taking 'P'icture 'G'ear 'P'ocket and then database or something. Developers usually try to make names that relfect their product and function.

It's the 'rubber stamps' for the Clie Paint program, is my guess. Do you have Clie Paint installed?

the nx70 is officially my first clie.
(my visor platinum commited suicide by jumping from a chair so
i decided to take the plunge and upgrade to sony)

i have used photostand though.

i just checked the created and modified dates for the file (using
fileZ) ...

created: 10/10/01
modified: 10/10/01
backed up: 2/19/03

so ... i guess it first appeared on my system in february (i got my
clie before xmas).

as a matter of fact, i do.
that's simple enough to check now ... backup, delete, and
run clie paint.

... back in a bit.

Where did you get clie paint, it shouldn't be on the nx or install CD.

:D

mystery solved. it was indeed the rubber stamps used in
clie paint. app still functions w/o that file, you just don't get
any stamps.

thanks Psamtik !!

and thanks to everyone else who posted. what a great
community.

eh ... well ... errrr ... i think i must have found it floating out
and about somewhere in the internet-ether.

i had actually forgotten all about it, and not even the question
about old clie files triggered my memory.

It was installed on my NX from the beginning... what's strange about it?
Oh and yes, I was talking about the adressbook, sorry for the confusion.
