Sony Update Sites

What is it with the two update websites for US and European Clies? If you go to the two sites (below) you'll see a different list of downloads on each site.

Sure I can appreciate that there are different language versions of the software but c'mon, are sony really trying to tell us that Palm desktop 4.1 is only for US handhelds ? Or that the Image Upload Utility only works in Europe?

Agreed! I live in the UK, why is it that the UK / European support sites always seem to be updated much later than other international sites, if at all?

It is irritating to see system software upgrades on the US site but be warned not to use them on Clie's purchased outside the US. How about a fuller explanation, like:
Why should we not install them?
Will they damage the system or because we don't need them?
If not, why not?

I sometimes get the impression that once Sony has got our money that they are not that keen to keep us updated!

Come on Sony Europe, let us have the level of service in Europe that is offered in the US and Japan!!

Interesting enough, the GSM driver on the German site is in english, my Palm Desktop for MAC is in english and my German speaking NZ still works and does not vomit:p

So what the heck: shall we still try to upload those new drivers/updates for WL100 for example?
Did you guys try it out?

Ok guys,
took the plunge, dl and installed the new WL100 driver and it works just fine on a NONE US NZ:D

My NZ speaks German, my WIFI network English, I might consider teaching my Memos to speak french ;)

Nice job olo, goodto know that it appears that US s/w will not completely screw our pda's. So why are Sony so precious about it? Perhaps they just want to keep things regional, like with DVD etc.

All we need now are some descriptions of each updates ... Columns Update Program :confused:

Oh and the updated Clie Viewer app would be nice ;)
