View Full Version : What program do you display when your clie is in the cradle?

Robot

Hey,

I recently installed that program CradleSnd. What it does is it launches any program when your clie gets placed in the cradle. It also quits the program when it is taken out.

I was kind of wondering what people have displayed when it is in the cradle.

I wished there was conduit/program that displayed a small calendar, a clock, a 5 day forecast, and a scrolling news ticker, on one screen. I doubt I would ever see this.

I know about World Mate, but you still have to click around to see everything. Plus I made the graphics for MobiMate and I am sick of looking at them.

Right now I am displaying Mega Clock.

SplashClock autoturns on after a period of time and displays date, time and photo slideshow of all pictures on MS or RAM

It's also HiRes+ looks great

I'm always afraid of SplashClock because it won't turn off if the cradle loses power. Scared me at least once when I woke up to a nearly drained Clie.

Other than that, great program.

I have been looking hi and lo and I can't find what I want to display on my clie while it is in the cradle. So last night I redesigned Weather Manager by Tiny Stocks. Dig the forecast ticker. Look here: http://www.rgentile.com/wm.jpg

I sent it to them last night. I hope they go for it.

I redesigned the existing current one but I aways felt the layout was little cumbersome.

Either Wassup! or Agendus in week List mode. Either tells me a lot. Wassup! is more of a summary while Agendus shows the details.

Of late, I've taken to leaving the "Power stays on in cradle" option unchecked and let the Clie just go to sleep after 3 minutes.

I don't display anything. It sits in the charger both at work and at home when not in use, but I just turn it on when I'm ready to use it. For me, personally I see no need to have a program "ON" all the time.

Well it looks like Tiny Stocks is taken the bait. They are interested in changing Weather Manager to look like what I made. They even mentioned that people could swap out the backgrounds and make there own. So that would be cool to have different skins.

Look again I added a clock and calendar

that looks really cool Robot. I'm tempted to d/l w.manager myself but reading Palm Gear's reviews, most of them were mentioning how inaccurate the forecasts usually were

My Clie would no longer staying on while it's sitting on the cradle eventhough I put a check on the 'Stay on in Cradle'. So I set the CradleSnd to launch AlwaysOn. Most of the time the Clie displays my A5 Task & Event list for the week as you see here (http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=599&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500).

I usually just leave it on whatever app it was on when I was last using it, which in the cradle is almost always Datebk5, or ZLauncher if I've just exited an app.

I'd like to have something useful come on after a certain period of inactivity. This thread has given me some ideas, I'll have to look into it. I ran the trial of Pocket Aquarium a couple times before, but it was a little jerky and buggy. Now that I've got an NX, maybe I should try it again. I love aquariums, especially aquarium screen savers because they don't have to be cleaned!

I usually have my system folder showing. Not too exciting.

Today, I got into a rumble like a young child and got a cute shiner. I' glad I didn't have my Clie with me at the time. My attoney is gonna go after the other guy and if all goes well, I might upgrade.

Ok call me a dummy but I can't get this Pocket Aquarium to go into fullscreen, it won't let me put my VG up but theres a big white gap where it should be. And the tools are apparently down in this white area because if I touch screen in lower left it changes stylus function. Am I missing something? Helpppppp....lol

That sounds like the same problem that made me not buy it for my NR. Right now on my NX it's working fine, and I may purchase it (I forgot it was so reasonably priced -- I was thinking it was like ten bucks). But I have been disappointed in the past with that white-screen thing the couple times I've demoed it before. It may yet pop up again. I remember it sometimes worked on my NR, and then it would get all screwy.

Same thing here, I did what the 'manual' says and I have to start it manually. The ON and OFF setting don't change anything for me.

ricleo
07-15-2003, 09:14 PM
hmmm....it starts automatically for me. Switch to on in the matrix screensaver and exit. Uncheck stay on in cradle and change the "switch off after" time to 30seconds. It should activate after 30 seconds when you put the clie into the cradle with power on. After the first instance it works, you can check or uncheck stay on in cradle, and put any time you want for the switch off after how many minutes.

I love the matrix screen saver.
I am currently developing some screen savers in flash. Everyone who has OS5 can have flash player so it's gotta be used for something. so far I have made one basic screen saver which looks pretty cool. You can play audio player in the background if you want, this is just for AC cradle use otherwise it will soak up your battery pretty quick.

I will post it on my website www.cliemax.co.uk as soon as it's ready. Oh! and it will be free.

handyent
07-16-2003, 04:01 AM
In fact, ricleo's instructions are thorough enough to have The Matrix Screensaver for Palm OS 5 autorun. Again, please, check out if your cradle is connected to AC power. Place the device in the cradle carefully in one move. You should hear only one system beep upon placing.

The screensaver features full Palm compliance and does not override your system preferences. Thus, it may conflict with "hack" applications like Hackmaster, Tealmaster, etc. Disable "hacks", do a soft reset and then give another try to the Matrix Screensaver. Please, report conflicts with "hacks" and other applications to Support.

If you still have problems and I can be of further assistance, do not hesitate to contact Support at support@handyent.com.

Quick question about displays sitting next to your monitor:

Is there any way to display the Clie’s screen on a monitor? I mean with or without a computer. I know the resolution wouldn’t be so hot, but there used to be Margi’s Presenter-To-Go for visors which would do the trick. Anything for Clies?

This sucks! The Matrix screen saver only works on OS5 devices. It would probably be too CPU intensive for my T615 anyways...

Alas, I am relegated to launching Today when my Clie is in its cradle.
