OK, just a little something from a garfield fan: I've downloaded all the images freely available from Garfield com (GIF), resized(480x X), rotated and saved to JPEG (looks terrible on a desktop, but great on the small Clié screen).
Now, I'm in the process of building a homepage and I've just put up the 80 comics that have been released in 2003.
Just for testing. If you want more (Over 9.000 total), just tell me. I just want to know if it's worth the effort.
All images are (c)Paws Inc.

I'm really a big Garfield fan too. How can you be so cruel to use rar though? I cant download it on my Clie now! ClieFiles (1.1) only supports ZIP.

Sorry, but splitting a ZIP is a major **** ** *** ***. And the server allows only for files < 500kb. I hope I can make it up to you by giving you another ~1000 comics (2000 -2002).

what are you using to display the comics? i suggest ComicGuru 2

Simply Splashphoto or AcidImage. CRS JPEG viewer is not that good, since it doesn't use the full 480px width, which results in scaled-down images.
But Acid or Splash do quite a descent job via Jogdial. I don't know which compression PocketGuru uses, but it's pretty hard to beat JPEG when it comes to lossy compression: About 120MB for 10000+ pictures!

I've found Plucker to be quite good for comic strips (I've got a hacked-together shell script that generates the .html files given a directory full of .jpg's and runs convert over them to size them nicely) ... pitty it only allows files that are less than 64k in size :-(

I'm assuming since you're all Garfield fans, there must be a handfull of you who appreciate the nuances of Get Fuzzy. Anyone doing the same for this strip?

I remember seeing all Garfield stripes in ComicGuru format sometime back in time. They were organized by year.

If you want a great freeware alternative to view jpegs, try http://www.geocities.jp/g_isihara/archive/JpegShow_US120.zip
(You'll need to right click and save target as... or go to the website... http://www.geocities.jp/g_isihara/ )

I too would like very much to find out if the pictures will return.
I could possibly host some of the pics too depending on file size and how popular they become due to bandwidth.
