How to connect a Clié NX70v (or an other PDA) to an external USB Hard Disk ? Hum ? Is it a good question ?

I think that it is very useful. For exemple on a travel you need to store a lot of pictures from your digital camera to an external (and light) HD. You can classified your files, change the names from your PDA to this HD etc ... I know, you can use your memory card (CF for exp.) on your PDA, do the changes and put of the CF to directly plug it on the special HD. :-/ :-(

Why not using new external HD for your GPS map in your car or to listen MP3 ? etc. The price of an 60Ga external HD is around 300 dollards today. What is the price of a CF or a Memory stick ? More !!!

Does somone works on a driver for Clié and USB external HD ? Is it possible ? Do you think it's a good idea ?

It won't work. The NX does not have the capabilities to do peer to peer USB connections. You would have to have a host device (etc. a PC). Even if you could connect the two devices, you would still need to write the software for the NX to see the drive as a VFS device.

In short, it's not gonna happen.

I have seen snipets about stand alone hard drives with Bluetooth. Maybe if software could be written for the PalmOS to support one of these? :D I like Bluetooth.. I just wish I had it.

Or would one of these digital wallets (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,528282,00.asp) work? It's not a USB connection, but you can transfer data back and forth via a Memory Stick (or any other supported memory card).

With USB you need both Master and Slave. Unfortunately the Clie is the slave. It also can be used as an external drive from the desktop PC via MS Import.

The article on the digital wallet didn't give a whole lot of usable info.
