Hi,

I ordered a nx73v pda from ebay, and so I want to save my ux40 as a backup pda. Do I need to take out the battery from the ux40 to store it? I ask, cause I've noticed with my TI-86 calculator (uses AA batteries) that when I put it in the closet for a few months with the batteries still in it, they leaked/exploded and white stuff was all over the battery terminals even though the calculator wasn't being used. I don't want that to happen to my ux40.

I doubt it. But, it doesn't hurt to be safe... ;)

Yep, take the battery out. Thats what I did. Even with the Shutdown mode, the battery is still being used.

Thanks to both of you :)

When storing a LiIon battery, it should ideally be stored at 40% capacity, as this will deteriorate the battery the least. Make sure it doesn't deplete completely, as this will irreversibly harm the battery.

I forgot to mention that... (yes, I did know that! ;))

Thanks for the 40% battery info! I ordered a NZ90 as well, so I'll keep both the batteries from the ux40 and nx73v at 40% when I store them.
