It's a 48 hour price drop (ends midnight on Saturday, November 26, 2005)! Check it out at the Palm Store. [details (http://www.1src.com/?m=show&id=1336)]

They realized that the Palm Z22 was not making much money for them so now they are desperate. Palm + Innovation = Flying Pigs.

As a happy user of a Tungsten T5, I have zero interest in owning a Z22. It was never designed for any 1src regular. This is a great PDA for my mom and sister! As for the price drop because Palm can't sell them; check Best Buy's website. All of the PDAs are on sale at BB. As of this writing, the Z22 is the only PDA that is sold out. They are only offering a lame $5 off sale price. They sold out of their entire online inventory at $95 each!
just my .02

I bought a Zire for my brother. He never figured out how to use it. It is in a drawer :)

It's a great handheld, for its price... and at $79, it's a great stocking stuffer...
Us tech geeks will eschews the Z22, but like the original Zire and the Tungsten E, it's a great PDA for common folks, which vastly outnumber us....
I had a Z22, and though I use my T5 as my main PDA, I find the Z22 being able to do most of the important productive stuffs... I plan to give it to my brother, but ended up playing with it for longer than expected...and find it better than I expected too.
Classy design and very small. Let's not preempt Palm by saying it is not selling, who knows, it just might be selling more than we imagined. Black Friday, is discount day, so it is no surprise if Palm decided to join the fun!

I purchased a Z22 promo package (extra styli and case for $79) at OfficeMax [last one in store at 11AM] today for my spouse who asked yesterday when I would give up my unused TE to replace my old IIIxe (appropriated to replace broken IIIx--no patience to hard reset and try again--IT people can be so stubborn), used for PIMs as the work-issued Blackberry is "just a phone, prefer keeping my data on a Palm." Decided to go this route because the TE does not have replaceable batteries or NVFS and the cost of replacing the digitizer was about the same. Had nothing been said I would have purchased the E2 navigation kit and passed it along for Xmas. Will see on December 26 or 27 if I made the right choice or if spouse has any interest in third party apps yet.

It is less than a 2GB Memory Stick Pro (which I just bought...) ;)

I don't feel the same way about this piece that others do. I think it's cool!
(although the screen IS a little lacking)
It returns to the Zen.

I don't think the Z22 is a good stocking-stuffer for anyone. They'll be disappointed that you didn't buy them a 2GB iPod Nano. Your mother or brother would rather have an MP3 player with read-only PIM than have a PIM-focused device that can't do much else. Returning to the Zen? I don't think so. The screen stinks and the input panel is too small. Geeks who think that others will share in their love of PDAs will buy these as stocking stuffers, so it may do an OK job sales-wise for Xmas, but many of them will end up unused in a drawer or returned for something else. Just my 2 cents. :)

I think it's not exactly a great Stocking Stuffer... It's not exactly something u'll pull out and be like, "Whoa! I've been wanting that all my life!" but it's good for those of us who just need basic PIM functions. It's light and handy. It looks nice, for those of you who own Dell 700ms or 6000s... it fits perfectly w/ the white borders and what not. It has excellent battery life, and it gets the job done. It's cheap, so u can break it and just kinda shrug it off. It's good, in it's own way. For most techies it ain't good enough, but for others, it's kool.

The Z22 is a cute little PDA. I dunno, I think it would make a nice backup ORGANIZER.
