I drooled over the Sony battery extender for my new SJ30, thinking this would be a cool thing to have for travel when ac wasn't available, but balked at the $40 Sony wants. (For those that don't know, it's a small plastic cased portable charger that supposedly will do 5 complete charges on the 4-AA batteries it holds.) So...off to eBay I went and found a generic version for $7.95 + postage! Just got it Saturday, and it seems to work great. (Also works for SL10, SJ20.) He's still listing them, and for all I know he has a bunch of them to sell (or not...).
 Check it out here:

Will this work with an NR?

Yes it does. Do a search on Ebay for "battery extender nx70". 13.95 with shipping.
Related question - it promises 4-5 charges. Anyone have any idea how long it takes for a complete charge?

It's pretty small...fits in your hand...weighs less than the SJ30. Took mine to Barnes & Noble last night and it came it mighty handy.

You can build one yourself. I did. Go to RadioShack and get the 4AA battery casing for $1.xx. For 18-pin plug (T, NR, SJ, SL) open your travel charger plug, solder pin 1 or 18 with the - wire, pin 8 with + wire. For 13-pin plug (S and N) solder pin 13 with - wire, pin 8 or 9 with + wire.

Wanted to add a further note.Thank you to Gvtexas. After i went to the web site you posted about the battery extender i just had to buy one.The service was amazing.Fast and extremely efficient.I was not going to buy anything more off the ebay.I was Screwed for $300.Thought i would take a chance. For less than $17 what could i lose.I must admit i will never, never ever buy any big items from ebay. However, the service here was second to none.Hope that i can buy from them again as i know that i will get what i paid for.Highly recommended.
