Hey gang,

I've just gotten myself a brand new VZ-90 (around US$450) and it's fantastic. BUT one thing I've noticed is that it's having trouble recognising my two 1GB memory sticks. It's fine with 512MB, 128MB etc, but 1GB gets recognised as installed but I can't run anything from it or file manage it etc.

I'm starting to think that these two memory sticks are not genuine Sony - although they look original with Sony packaging etc, they were purchased on EBay from China. Suspicious.

Does anyone know of any compatibility problems etc or "non-original" issues?

Tks,

CS

I use my SanDisk 2Gb and I don't have any problem.

I'm starting to think that my problems are 1) black Sony memory sticks are temperamental or 2) I've purchased two great copies from China that have some limitation which my VZ90 shows up but my UX50 does not. Ah well, over to SanDisk I come....

Where did you get the VZ90 for so cheap?

All,

I got it direct from Japan via http://www.pdakobo.com for 49,800 yen ($417.82 US). Fantastic service, prompt and hassle free. Highly recommend.

I've posted on another thread that Sony Japan has reported that sony branded black memorysticks larger then 1Gig don't work in Clies. Stick with Sandisk, guys!

The most compatible MS Pro's for Clies are the pearly white and pearly blue ones; The black one seem to be a constant source of troubles...

Maybe I should blow all my money on a VZ90...
How is the translation? ;)
I hope my NX80 and MSB1 sell on eBay, the auctions are ending today, no bids... :(

I was looking at the PDA website, and can't figure out how to check out. I don't know, it is kind of risky... :(

hello just got a vz90 from japan which was 49800 yen less the 5% tax for foreigners. but what a bummer, my 512 (black) sony memory stick won't work with it? As i've read in previous posts 1gb doesnt work for you...but 512 does, any inputs? which kind of 512mb sticks do u have? thanks

Mch,

I have a 512mb (black) Sony memory stick and it works fine. It's my 1gb (black) memorysticks (x2) that won't work. Now, I have this theory that we're the victims of copy technology from China etc. I believe that if you buy a genuine Japan-produced stick you'll be fine. I also believe that Sony are covering up this issue by their broad statements with "may not work" comments. Of course the trick now is how do you buy Japanese-produced only??? All the best...
