View Full Version : Warm Rest?

I am trying to track down a conflict with one of my programs which is causing Blazer to crash everytime I launch it. I deactivated TextPlus and it worked for a short time. So I thought I would do a Warm Reset to try to isolate the trouble. However, by holding the page up toggle and pressing the reset button all the unit does is a soft reset.
I even reloaded Reset Emulator and it will not do the warm reset either. It appears to do a soft reset of the device but not a warm reset. Anyone have any ideas?

You need to press up and hold through not only the white boot screen (with the orange logo) but also through the silver screen with the silver logo.

I believe that the lag that blazer sometimes takes when opening is due to clearing out memory for blazer to run. (possibly to allow larger web pages to load). Certain programs are written in a way that they will stay in memory, so when blazer clears out the memory the Palm crashes. These programs are typically backgroung programs.
I have found that Piloc with Hebrew enabled will cause blazer to reset when opening. (Someone posted that with Dutch it is not a problem. This may be due to the fact that Hebrew is written from right to left). I have emailed Piloc and they said they are planning a fix.....

This doesn't answer your question, but I also find that with TextPlus (which I really like, by the way) active, even if Blazer isn't selected as one of the apps. TextPlus should work with, every time I try to launch Blazer, my T|X crashes.
Turning off TextPlus entirely allows me to launch and use Blazer, with no soft resetting.

I did deactivate TextPlus and initially Blazer did work without crashing however, after a day of use it started crashing again. So now I believe something else is causing a problem. This is why I was trying a warm reset. I'll try what WildCelt suggests and see if that works.

Well I believe I found the culprit. It appears to have been Clip Pro. I went in and deactivated it on a hunch and Blazer started working again. During my trouble shooting I also noticed that the Quick Tour program was causing the unit to crash as well. After deactivating Clip Pro both Blazer and Quick Tour started working again. Oddly enough, I reactivated Clip Pro after testing both programs and everything continues to work fine. I quess Clip Pro was hanging up somehow. Hopefully this will take care of it.

hi,
somewhere in this forum i found the note to use "Resco Locker" to make ClipPro working stable. It really worked an I'm happy to have a multiclip utility back on my TX.
you must not call up a copy/paste command with ClipPro within e.g. documents-to-go but first use the command-bar copy and secondary the command-bar ClipPro import/export option to move the clipboard content beetween clipboard and ClipPro.
With "Resco Locker" "damemopad" (popup-memopad) seems to work stable too.
Now i have all my favourite hacks back on PalmTX
- SnapCalc/TealCalc (DA)
- daMemoPad (DA)
- easylaunch5
- ClipPro
- TealEdit (DA)
- McPhling
- FindHack
[the DA-applications launched via McPhling or EasyLaunch5]
in addition i run TealScript, since i don't get used to G2 and often still use my old TRGpro with G1
currently fairly stable.
have fun...

daMemoPad runs fine on my TX without rescolocker using DALauncher, also using the following DAs:
AOCtrlDA - auto off setting
BatteryKeep DA - more auto off setting, but backlight on/off doesn't work
PKWriteDA - predictive text entry
RakuDA - enter todo, datebook or memo in any app
SoundDA - change and toggle sound settings
StampDA - great for copying stuff from notebook

maybe it has been something else, that made "daMemoPad" lock up the system: TealScrip's Penstroke Graffity-to-Screen to call up Graffity-Help did cause some trouble - i' can't remember.
Currently i locked a few applications, that might be critical:
wordsmith (?), DaMemoPad, ClipPro...
Thanks for you hints about other DA

TealScript 3.83 is very stable on my TX. Instead of TextPlus I run TextComplete from MobiSystems. Haven't got arount to running daMemoPad on my TX yet but really like it on my TE.
willbewill,
Have you tested PKWriteDA with a lot of apps on your TX? Tinkered with it on my TE but never installed it on my TX...

I've only recently been playing with pkwrite, I don't think I will stick with it though as it hasn't got a large range of words - very irritating when in the middle of something.
I did have Wordcomplete (now unsupported) running on TX and it did work but not in all apps. (not in Docstogo) and it made Blazer really unstable.
Does Textcomplete work in all apps?

I too had WordComplete up and running as it with Jot was great on my non-NVFS devices. It was certainly unstable in several of my programs.
TextComplete is perfectly stable with Blazer, Agendus Pro, MobiSystems OfficeSuite and on and on. I haven't tried it with DocsToGo yet, but will a little later today when the TX is done charging... Will get back to you on that.
Have to say that MobiSystems support is awesome, as I have purchased a myriad of their products.
