nav down reset?

On my T5, pressing nav down while resetting gives a flash of a three color screen and then goes to a black screen with a two-pix line at the top flashing. What is this for?

Anyone know how to connect to the device then and do the various console mode commands (dir, getresource, etc.)?

I tried Palm Debugger, and while I can connect via shortcut . 1/2, I can't connect to it via the debug reset.
