Always wanted to try microwaving CDs? Well I finally remembered to try it and have a little fun. I had a stack of bad CDs to destroy and wondered what was the best way to do it. So I just poped a CD in the microwave and let er rip. I filmed my endeavors with my Palm Zire 72.

The second video is the most awesome. That sucker was smoking.

Added note: The microwave still works. Its not the first time it came in contact with metal.[accident]

Very impressive. I still can't believe that I just watched a video of a CD being microwaved. What is wrong with me? :)

It's generally a good idea to *NOT* put things in the microwave when your main comment about it is "That sucker was smoking" :)

ditto

don't worry, i'll find us a good psychiatrist. :D

but why are the videos in ASF format? is that what the Z72 records to by default? i thought ASF was some sort of Windows only format or something...

The Zire 72 does record in ASF. I can easily play it on my iBook with VLC or Mplayer. TCPMP will also play it.

i've only run into the ASF format maybe 5 times my entire lifetime. for me, it's just so rare that i barely know anything about it. but i just learned that Winamp can playback ASF movies, same goes for TCPMP. lol

Hmm, well, hmm. You really need to do other things with your spare time. Read a eBook, perhaps? :p

to be honest, you gotta be pretty young or real immature to find microwave minute-ready CD's exciting. i thought that it was better than fireworks - 5 years ago. that's when my friend's home microwave started to stop working. i guess it had a really good retirement pension plan.

other than that, you shouldn't play around with that anymore. at the moment, your microwave seems fine, but it's actually doing damage to the inside, even though it works fine now. also, you may not smell it or see it, but there could still fumes and very fine particles on the inside of your microwave. so the next time you warm something up, you'll be chewing on aluminum and plastic as a side order to your chicken (or whatever yo uput in the microwave).

there's lots more fun things to do. ever tried playing polo golf? i'll give you a hint: try to hit the golf ball past your goal posts (use backpacks) with your irons as you drive around like mad people in the golf carts. it's even more fun when your PE 12 teacher joins in with your guys instead of telling you guys that "you kids should really grow up"

(true story: we did this on a so called field trip to the golf course for PE 12 three years ago. a bunch of us decided that normal golf was waaaay to slow and boring. so we hitched rides in a bunch of golf carts and decided to make things more fun. our PE instructor finally found us out on the 10th hole playing polo golf. instead of yelling at us, he told us to grow up... and precedied to join in. a week later, excrement hit the air propulsion device and our PE instructor was made to lecture us (thanks to our principle) on being immature, irresponsible, blah blah blah. but while he lectured us, there was definitely a sparkle in his eye telling us that he had a helluva time playing with us, and he wouldn't need to think twice about doing it again - it's just instinct that it's so much more fun than regular golf.)

tell me about it.

he was actually a backup goalie for the Detroit Red Wings farm league team, whatever they're called. but he left for some sort of severe knee injury. he never really told us much else other than he was the Red Wings back up from farm league, and his ACL (IIRC) was pretty badly torn

that picture was me, a few years ago. i was extremely adventurous, brave, and dumb. i still am now, but just as dumb :D.

i remember being 5 feet in the air, looking down at hte ground coming up at me a little too fast and off edge than i wanted. i ended up with a pretty busted leg after that.

i still bike, but i don't huck at all. i used to love the dirt jumps and helping interior local trail builders. now, i love the smell and scenery of trails north of my backyard. dirt jumps are still fun, but i avoid them when i can just because i don't want any more knives digging into my knee.

bad idea. while Hollywood makes data retrieval seem too easy in shows like CSI and NCIS, it takes much more than 15 minutes to get 60% of the data from a baseball-bat smashed computer hard drive. but it is still possible. if you really want to get rid of the evidence, you should feed it to your dog. i'm pretty sure most people would not want to have to get too close to doggy doo.

I love CSI, but $219?! :(

but would you really want those nasty CIA/FBI/CSI folks to find out the truth behind your evil cartel? well, if you had an English sheep dog, then disposing of your evidence shouldn't be too hard... LOL
