I was walking around Target with my wife yesterday and we saw this:
TransPod iPod Car Solution with FM Transmitter (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-7/qid=1132579460/ref=sr_1_7/602-0068271-5280611?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B0007OCY26)
It is an iPod car dock that charges the iPod and transmits the audio via a built in FM transmiter to you car stereo. The dock itself plugs directly into the cigarette lighter and has an adjustable arm. It charges the device, sends audio to the car stereo, and holds the device wherever you would like for easy accesibility.... and there are no wires!
I got to thinking about the possibility of a similar dock for Palm's new devices. The new multi-connector does allow for audio out, does it not? How difficult then would it be to make a dock that does the exact same thing, but for Palms?!? Granted, there are not nearly as many of these Palms out there as iPods and the main function of a Palm is not to listen to music (officially), so the market is not as big.... but would that not just be the killer accessory???
Couple that dock with a small bluetooth GPS hidden on the dash and you've got teh killer wireless auto integration.
It may be possible that something like this already exists for Palms, but I have not been able to find it after an extensive Google search.
Does anyone here know of a Palm solution like this?
Even a cord that uses power and has an audio out port would be helpful and would at least allow me to craft a like solution myself using a universal car dock coupled with an FM transmitter.... make teh cord run down the arm of teh dock and at the very bottom plug into the outlet and connect to an FM transmitter..... i dunno..... does anyone know even of a cord for Palms that charges and has audio out (the Palm cradle has both, but I would like just a simple cord)?
