After downloading the 4/7 update for cliefile, I find 2 cliefile icons i my launcher, both on the memorystick in powerrun. Both are the same size. Can I delete one safely without losing data?
Thanx

Move it from power run back to RAM, delete the dup. What data are you going to lose? Make a backup copy before you do anything. The new version is suppose to remain in RAM, not on the MS. As you can see it will cause you problems!

ClieFiles actually runs just fine off the MS. The problem is your launcher, which is confused and thinks that the PowerRun and Flash version are both in PowerRun. If you tell us which launcher you're using, we can maybe give you a workaround.

Rod is correct, I just tested it from the Palm Launcher folder.
The issue before was due to the new version being copy protected in RAM.
No need to use PowerRun as it will only add to confusion when it's copied to RAM. Certain apps are better to be run from the Palm Launcher folder instead of PowerRun. If you use PowerRun, it creates a shortcut in RAM and takes up space, when there is no need to. Each app has to be judged as to whether you use PowerRun or just use the Palm Launcher folder.

Be very careful when installing this, even following the directions, if you are using JackFlash and BlueSynch.
The directions instruct you to do a reset, then install. The Clie sees the update and and then tries to restore all of your files. BlueSynch and the Hotsynch program store all your apps (even those in Flash) in the backup directory and will try to install all of them. If you are pushing the limits of memory usage, I would advise moving theose apps loaded into flash out of the back up directory. And maybe even a couple of more. That way you won't get the lock up and out of memory message i did.
It only took me about an hour and a half to figure it out but it was frustrating.
BEWARE. BEWARE. Other than that, the upgrade of ClieFile works great.

How did you move it to the Launcher folder?
Thanks

Simple, I HotSync'd it there. I could also use MS Import. I now leave it in the Palm-Launcher folder. I only kept it for it's unzip file capability. Normally I use ZL's file manager for everything else. ClieFiles V1.1 does not work from Flash RAM. When I moved it to RAM, it disappeared on me. I could see the amount of memory that it used, but I could not access v1.1, only ver1.0. I fixed it by doing a hard reset and installing it to the MS only.

It would be really nice if the updates could be put in ROM instead of using up all the precious RAM.

I have ClieFiles v1.1 in RAM (appears as Copy Protected) in the prog itself. You mention that you Hotsync it - you mean you deleted it from Clie first and then reinstalled Cliefiles.prc?
Could I do the same using MSImport i.e. delete first and then just copy cliefiles.prc to the Launcher folder?
Cheers

Has anyone managed to run ClieViewer from MS? From Launcher folder? What is the process?
Thanks

Anyone else moved ClieFiles to run from MS?

The only way to delete or move the Clie Files update is by a hard reset, the Lord knows that I have tried. The best I could do was make it disappear with it still occupying RAM and being inaccessible. It can be HotSync'd directly to the Palm-Launcher folder and run from there with no ill effects, or use MS Import. The downside is that you have two Icons instead of one. It can be run also from Flash ROM, but you will still have two Icons.
Clie Viewer is another story as it's comprised of multiple files, so it has to be installed to RAM. I use Acid Image instead, and it's much better.

I agree a hard reset is the only fix, but what I found is not only did I have two icons, but when I started either prog, the 1. 0 program was what started-knowing by checking the 'about" drop down.
I was rather discussed by the amount of effort to get to that point, that I just leave the updates in RAM. Boo.

I will look at the hard reset route as would prefer not to do it but looks like there is no alternative. I have a similar problem with the Bluetooth progs in RAM - I do not have Bluetooth and have disabled it in the Prefs. But I still cannot move the files from Ram to Flash etc.
Thanks for all your help
