Hi, I'm new with ScummVM but after following installation instruction (copying .engine and .data files) in PALM/Programs/ScummVM/Mods on my SD card installed launcher and skin, when I start ScummVM and click play button the palm reboots.
I tried the 0.7.1 from scummvm.org the arm version (but I do not understand the difference) from here http://capers.free.fr/ScummVM/ and no difference.
Do anyone knows this problem ?
Maybe Scumm is not compatible with the TX ?

Recently I tried the same ScummVM version on a Tungsten T, and the palm rebooted. At first I found the game name I was entering did not match the version of the game files (using monkey instead of monkeyvga) You should check the scummvm site or forums to find the exact game name you need to enter. After changing the game name, the game loaded but froze at random points. I was able to get some more stability after installing UDMH (http://palmpowerups.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=2) a program which makes a workaround to make more dynamic(heap) memory available to programs. Hope this helps. planning to get a TX myself, so tell me if the program worked.

to obtain the right game name to enter in the palm scummvm you can also try the pc version of scummvm and load the game files, the pc version automatically selects the game name based on the files.

Don't use the ARM one, it only works for Zodiac users atm, but Chrilith is down-porting it to be compatible with all OS5 Palms, which will be sweet :D
The ARM version is a LOAD faster than the other one (Which has ARM code, but only for some parts) on my Zod2

Hi all,
I have bought a TX and installed ScummVM on it.
I tried various versions, from 0.7 to 0.8 to the latest Arm version, with diverse results (unsuccessful with the Arm version, sadly, but that was predictable, as it was supposed to be Zodiac only).
I've finally settled with 0.8, though I think 0.7 had some advantages too (like running Sam&Max).
At some point last week I also have installed UDMH (trial version) and it seemed to help with some games, but I once forgot to enable it again after a reset (so it's disabled now), and ScummVM doesn't seem to mind any more. As I was playing with several ScummVM parameters at the same time in order to have everything work, I don't know exactly what happened, and I'm not all that convinced that UDMH is a real requirement. Perhaps just necessary for the bigger games.
One important parameter that apparently needs to be changed from the default is to activate the cache for card operations, and set a higher buffer value than the default (I put 32K instead of 1K). Not doing it causes ScummVM to freeze during saves.
I've tried to use the Wide (1.5X) Display mode, but then the screen is not refreshed during animations or even after stylus clicks, and I need to use the home button twice to force a screen refresh. This is definitely unusable.
So I've switched back to the Palm API display mode, and the games are playable, but only use 1/4th of the available screen.
I've disabled the sound (didn't copy the monster.sou files on my card anyway)
The games that seem to work :
- Secret of Monkey Island 1 (English - cd version with cd audio tracks)
- Indiana Jones & Fate of Atlantis (French - floppy version on a best-seller-games budget CD)
- Day of The Tentacle (English - original cd version)
Games that do not work at the moment
- Sam & Max hit the road (English - original cd version) - but I was able to have it run at some time... I think it was when I was experimenting with ScummVM 0.7. Now with 0.8 it doesn't seem to work anymore.
- Secret of Monkey Island 2 (English version of indeterminate origin : doesn't even start).
Games I plan to try next :
- Freeware Beneath a Steel Sky (floppy version from scummvm.org)
- Freeware Flight Of The Amazon Queen (floppy version from scummvm.org)
- Monkey Island 1 & 2 French (I have a LucasArts Trilogy CD, but everything is packed, and need to use it's install menu to first install on PC, then pick the files)
I'll keep you updated on my progress.
On the other hand, if someone manages to have acceptable results with the Wide (1.5x) mode on TX ... I'll welcome any hint.
Regards,

Hi Snark and all,
I found it on Chrilith' s page (http://capers.free.fr/ScummVM)
Go to the download page and select the link 2005-03-21 - Test version : test.zip
This is the one I installed, after having tested some of the others.
When looking in the about box, this version is labelled 0.8.0CVS and dated March 16th 2005, that's why I'm talking about v0.8.
I don't know if it's truly based on the "official" scummvm 0.8.0. the important thing for me is that it works on the TX with at least a couple games.
Oh, by the way, Sam & Max now plays OK ! :D and without Udmh !
So does Flight of the Amazon Queen, but for this one I haven't been able to exit (all hard buttons remapped, palm icon bar inactive). ==> I have had to soft-reset to stop the game. Weird. Probably I missed something. Is there an exit button in the game icon bar ?
Regarding Wide mode (1.5x) still no improvement
