Hey all, I was just fiddling around with TCPMP and while .MP4 files work fine, everytime I try to load a .mpeg file I get an "Out of memory!" error message. What's going on? It worked perfectly before! I installed ver. 0.7 hoping that it would allieviate the situation, but it still gives the memory error. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try installing UDMH at http://palmpowerups.com
Even though I doubt that's the problem... Try it anyway ;)

Well, I'm hesitant to do that for two reasons:
First, my TH55 has well over 3MB of dynamic heap memory, so I don't think that UDMH will do much to help.
Secondly, in the TCPMP forums, Picard says that TCPMP and UDMH don't play well together...and there are several people saying they ended up with Fatal Reset Errors when running both together. yipes...
I have the beta version before the official .7. I have no problems with any codec. Any reason for me to download the new version? If it aint broke, don't fix it I say.

Is it mpeg1 or mpeg2 file? Does it show anything in media info dialog? Did you install ffmpeg plugin?
Today I found a bug which may cause trouble with SonyHHE plugin. If you have some time please check with 0.70a test version as well: http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test

It looks like all the files I'm getting the "Out of Memory" error are MPEG1 files. The thing that's weird is that they used to work just fine, with no errors!! And now, all of a sudden, I'm getting this error. I can't think of anything I've done or anything I've loaded that would give this effect...
For instance, I have a trailer to the movie "Pearl Harbor"...under Media Info, this is what it says:
MPEG Movie Files (MPEG,MPG,MPV)
slot1://Movies/pearl_harbo.mpg
LibMad MPEG Audio
MPEG Video
0x0
Played frames: 0
Dropped frames: 0
Any interesting caveat: Now some of the files give the error, and others just skip to the end of the clip and don't play.
MP4 files work perfectly, which is what I convert DVDs to, so that's good. Anyway, I downloaded 0.70a, and I'll try to give it a whirl this afternoon after I can backup my TH55 just in case. Thanks for the quick help!!
P.S. When I load up the new beta version, do I need to reload all the plugins as well, or just the main program?

IT WORKS!! Well, I was impatient and loaded up 0.70a (program and plugins) and the MPEG-1 files work like a charm!! Yay! Picard, I know you've been lauded for this program, but I can't say enough good things about it! Just when I was getting "bored" with my TH55, this is finally allowed me to use it as a portable video player...it's fantastic!!
