I'm trying to get my Clie UX50 to connect to my GMail account. I know I have POP3 enabled on the website, I also followed the correct port numbers. I just still am not able to connect and receive any email. There are two questionable items underneath Options/Accounts/Edit Accounts/ and then "More" at the bottom (which is where you would set the port numbers and such).

Should I checkmark APOP and what kind of Authentication should I use underneath SMTP? Btw, I am using Port Number 995 for PP3 and 465 for SMTP which were given to me by GMail help page.

Although I have tried to MacGuyver my way through this, it's not helping much, so Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you fellow UX50 Community peeps~

Hi,

There are multiple threads on the subject if you perform a search.

The short and quick answer is you are not able to use Clie Mail for your Gmail account.

If you still want to use Clie Mail to access Gmail, you could instead turning on free Gmail POP3 forwarding to your other email service which does not require SSL like Gmail. Or by using Netfront throught website but of couse this way is much slower...

If you're looking for accessing Gmail directly from your Clie, Snappermail can surely handle that but cost you some $$$.

I have a vague recollection of when i first got my UX50 and setup clie mail to access my pop account, and when it downloaded new mail, i'm pretty sure, it sounded an alarm... but that was a long time ago and it doesn't do it now.

Am I totally mistaken? should the clie mail app make a sound when it download new mail?

Would be good if it did.

Well, few years ago when i had my first Palm V, somehow i could sync my Hotmail's to my palm. Now few years later i have an UX50 and can't figure it out how i can forward/sync my hotmail, yahoo, excite etc to my Clie...

I never had any email acount with POP3. only online emails. This Clie mail seems to be useless in my case!!!
WHAT NOW?

I guess you could use snapper mail ($54.52AUD) with a Gmail account.

if you want to sync your mail (with your outlook) you can use cliemail desktop cundit or install intellisync/pocketmirror.
for hotmail/yahoo, you need to pay extra $$ to have pop3 access (hotmail will allow outlook express to retrieve mails)
for ssl accounts (gmail and exchange server) youll need ssl enabled client like snapper, agendus etc.

golalmo, thank you for info. but then i didnt pay anything to hotmail or bought any other mail apps. i just added my email in my pref. thats all i remember...

okay, i hate hotmail and microshit products and i wont pay a penny for their useless products.
but i would like to find a free way to sync my yahoo and excite email.
i am using Netfront 3.1 on my UX50.
and each time i have to get on website to check emails and when i get to the inbox the battery is empty... lol

i've found an app that does what i was saying about sounding an alarm when an cliemail receives new mail. Its in japanese, but with a bit of tapping around i got it to work.
