What's the biggest complaint of the SJ & SL Clies??

"The Infared distance sucks!!".....

Good news! Gary at www.talestuff.com has come out with a IR Blaster for the SJ & SL series!! Now our Clie's can get awesome ranges using this infared device. It runs for a reasonable price of $19. Shipping only $3. DEFINITELY worth it! I've ordered mine and will update this thread on the distances I get using Airclock and Omniremote. Very exciting news! Thanks to Gary and all at www.talestuff.com!!!!!! :D :D

There isn't a demo download or anything for this software, is there? I don't really have much use for it...but I would like OmniRemote to have a better range then 8" :P

When I sit that close to my TV, I have flashbacks of what my mother always said to me as a kid....

you have to buy an infrared remote program like "omni remote" to get real good use out of it

Right, Omniremote or Airclock are two programs that would work well with it. I'm guessing in the future more apps will support an external infared device. It's great that we have a blaster available to make up for the SL/SJ's "Shortcomings"! It'll be great turning TV's off at Damons or TGI Fridays just for fun!!! hahaha!

i agree the SL series has ALOT of "shortcomings" to put it lightly. to turn off all the tvs a TGI Fridays you'll have to program the remote software with the right IR codes

Yep, they do need to be programed. I know theres proggies with definitions pre-installed, but I'm not sure what program to get. I know CLie Remote Commander has them, but I don't know how or if I can get that program......anyone have any ideas?

HOLY HECK! I'm buying one right now. Even though I have an NR I still get crappy range. :/

But now... *maniacal giggle*

Alright, good news....I got the IR Blaster. It took only business days to arrive. Very pleased so far! It does take a little muscle to get into the bottom port though, so don't think that it doesn't fit like I did. The range is very nice!! So far I've only tried it from 10-15 feet away and it has worked fine! I've been using omniremote with it. I've found that "training" the buttons in the dark is the best way to do it. Well, ask any questions if you have any. I reccomend getting one!

Yeah! I know! I was wondering what you were talking about in your previous message. I thought maybe you knew something I didn't! Only works for SL-SJ series. :-)
