You should familiarize yourself with the PPC OS before making an informed decision. I heard that it's a pain in the *** to use...

Also, remember that the H1910 does not support SDIO (no camera, wifi, bluetooth, etc.) and does not offer standard headphone jack. Otherwise, it's a fine unit.

i read a little bit bout the pocket pc os, seems ok, mainly is that apps dont close automatically, you have to close it or you'll end up runnin out of ram, and the 2.5mm jack is no big deal at all, i can jus get an adapter, mainly i like the 1910 since you can play mp3s and play mpegs/divx without converting which is a big deal to me, i dont think i am plannin to use any wifi lan cards or anything so i'm ok bout that, and also i like the fact that it has a full screen instead of the t615, i'mm worried that sony will release a hi-res+ t series after i get the 1910, if sony releases a t form with a vg then i would honestly get that for sure, but from what i can see, its gonna be a long time before sony releases that, so i was thinkin myabe get the 1910 till sony does, is there some stuff i should be worried bout before gettin the 1910?

Prob. j ust be aware you are getting a PPC, make sure that you like the OS enuf, and get an SD card for it too.

PPC didnt work for me but everyone has different needs, Sony is going to have to do something though as you are not the only one thinking of converting with the prices dropping and Sonys rising.

I was also considering replacing my 615 with an h1910, but there are some things that have made me hesitate (not necessarily in order of importance):

1) Really short battery life (2-4 hours run time, acccording to a review on the-gadgeteer.com).

2) No serial support though the "hotsync" port, so you can't hook the unit up to a cell phone for internet/email access (I forget where I heard this).

3) No SDIO, so you can't use SD Bluetooth or the soon-to-be-released SD WiFi cards.

4) HP's use of NAND ROM in the unit means that operating system needs to eat up a chunk of RAM to run (out of 64 MB, the user can only access 46 or so).

5) No way to use the Ipaq series sleds (CF, GPS, etc.), nor does it look like HP'll be releasing any 1900-series-specific ones. To me, the sleds are one of the Ipaq's biggest selling points.

There's a lot of info on the 1910 on the-gadgeteer.com, PocketPCThoughts.com, and PDABuyersGuide.com. Personally, I'm waiting to see what HP does with the upcoming 2200 series.

I think you should wait for sony to release a t model with vg.

Also consider your investment in software that doesn't work with the PPC.

There's a program called Icbar for PPC and it actually closes the program when you click the x. And in my opinion, the PPC OS isn't hard to use at all.

Buy it, there's nothing wrong with owning both a Clie' and PPC. Once you get used to PPC 2002, it's very easy to work with and runs solid. If you buy it, you can go to this site for all the latest PPC game info. There's something new almost everyday.

[customer walks into a BMW dealership]
"Uh, yeah, hi -- I was just wondering..." [customer looks around showroom] "I've got a gorgeous 5-series sitting right outside. But I just saw this killer Audi convertible coupe. Do you think I should buy it or stick with my 5-series?"

[BMW Dealer stares blankly]

:D

(don't pick the analogy apart...) ;)

actually, also one of main reasons i wanna get rid of my t615 is that im having problems with my clie, it seems to not charge, that charge light turns off constantly even though the battery is not even half charged, it takes me like 7 tries to get it working, sometimes it works and most times it doesn't, so i thought it was the charger, so future shop gave me a new charger, and i'm still having the problems, so i'm thinkin the t615 is broken, and i can't send it away to get it fixed since i need to have a pda for work, i need it to carry all my client information and documents, so you guys think futureshop will replace it with a 1910 if i pay the extra? i know they wont be able to get a t615 since its discontinued for awhile, so whatchu guys think, you think futureshop will allow me to swap it for a 1910 if i pay the extra? i bought extended warranty if that helps.. thanx

I think Futureshop would.

They let me swap an SJ30 for a T665, and then a T665 for Viewsonic V35.

ok guy i did it, i returned my t615 and got a 1910, its currently chargin right now, sorry guys, i wont be making anymore yishow skins no more, but i gotta say, it looks soooo nice... honestly, before i actually saw the 1910, i swore by the clie t series, and when ever people talked bout pocket pcs i jus ignored it, but to be honest guys, 1910 is honestly a nice equipment, i haven't actually used it yet, but just for looks, i have to say 1910 wins, now for functionality and apps, i'll check after i charge, hopefully i wont have any problems..

heh.. sorry, but i already did, and i gotta say i'm so happy i did.. honestly 1910 is so much better then my t615.. first of is the screen, its just amazin how crisp and bright this screen is compared to my t615 even to the t665, second is the programs for ppc, main thing was watching divx/mpeg/avi movies, second is the SD cards are so much cheaper the MS cards, also the size is amazing and so much lighter then the t615. for real though, i didn't think i would like the 1910 when i first got it, but after using it for 2 days i'm in love. there is so much i can do with a ppc that clie couldn't do, guys honestly pocket pc 2002 is so much different then the previous windows CE versions, its much much better. but i gotta say its not that stable, i had to already do few soft resets, but i'm currently installing and uninstalling hella new programs like crazy. I say palm is good for the user who wants to do basic things, and ppc is good for doing media. i still can't believe how amazin the 1910 is.. sorry guys, but i think i'm gonna stay with the 1910..

Don't use pocket blinds, but might try it out. I over clocked my PPC to 498. =)

By chance did your 1910 ship with a PXA255? I noticed that the Dell Axims are now shipping with them. In November, I'm going to use my 1 year advanced exchange service to trade in for a PXA255. Even if I can't overclock the new one to 498, it will still be faster.

nah mang, mine came with a PXA250 processor, currently usin hackmaster to overclock, seems to work flawless, only bad thing bout the 1910 is no SDIO and horrible IrDA range..

Does the H1910 come with a protection cover by any chance?? OR you have to purchase them separately?

I started off playing my nes roms with Pocket Nes and I must say it sucks!

There is nothing better or faster then PocketNester!

no protection cover, you have to purchase it seperatly, but i never use it anyways, like when i had my t615, i never used the leather flap, i just stick on a screen protector and i'm fine..

Pocket NES was horrible. YAME which was better then Pocket NES was still no comparison to the great PocketNester. It's my favorite app on the PPC, I can't live without Life Force.
