My addresses are not always listed alphabetically and some addresses don't show up at all. I get them by searching with the find command. This happened when I started to use the MS Entourage conduit. Any thoughts on how to correct this while using a Mac PB G4 and virtual PC. I am using Mac OS X 2.3 and Palm OS 4.1 on a Clie N760c. The Address is also v.4.1s
Thank you in advance

I think its got something to do with the First name,Last name order.
In the Address, Menu, Options, Preferences, there are two List By: Last Name, First Name or Company, Last Name. Which one is highlighted?

You don't mention what desktop-based contact manager you are using (Palm desktop, MS Outlook, etc.) Sounds like you may have two problems.
If you are using Outlook, there are several ways to display an entry such as First, Last. You get to choose how you want the entry to appear. Example. I entered VW Roadside Assistance into Outlook. I can choose for it to display as VW Roadside Assistance, Assistance VW Roadside or Assistance, VW Roadside. If I look for Roadside, I can't find it if I need to look Un V for VW. Poke around the help files and find what works best for you.
Again in Outlook, if you check the default mailing address for fileds with no information, you will not get an address on the handheld. You can choose the home or business address as the default.
One possible reason for inconsistant data transfer may be improperly mapped field. Check documentation on this. Each of the 15 fields on the Address app is equivelant to one of the fields in your desktop contact manager. Make sure you are using the correct fields or change the mapping. To squeeze out additional information on your handheld, make use of the four custom lines you see at the bottom each address entry.
Or, it could be none of this.

Thanks again. I am using the Palm desktop and have the Address preferences set to Company, Last Name. I found "Amtrak" listed under the "M's" in the Address book. When I open it and removed the A in Amtrak and then replaced it with another "A" it returned to the "A" section of the Address section. Also if I open the date book and then return to the address book my entire address list is in a random order. When I open a listing the book returns to an alphabetical order with only a few items out of sequence. Any thoughts on how to reset my address book.

1. On your next hotsynch, set the address conduit to Palm Desktop overwrites handheld. See if this transfer will overwrite the problem in your contact list
2. Delete the AdressDB from you handheld and do a hotsynch with the address conduit set to Palm Desktop Overwrites Handheld. Le the desktop put in a fresh contact list.
Remeber to always backup before doing anything like this.
If all else fails, you could do a hard reset to get your unit reset like it was out of the box and hotsynch to restore all your data.

Look for problematic apps on your device too.
Are you using an app called "AIM" or another address book product by the same creator. I loaded that app on Visor Neo and had the same consepuences on my Neo. If there are any apps that you know either utilize your conduit or utilize the built in catagory database, I would at least temporarily uninstall them.

Thanks ever so much for all your suggestions. The first one I tried, which was to overwrite the AddressDB book in the handheld with the desktop, worked like a charm. Everything is in alphabetical order with no problems. Thanks again to all of you for your help.
