View Full Version : What do you TX users think?
I just purchased a Euro NX73 for $270 total. The specs are as follows:
Bluetooth
WiFi CF card
VGA camera/camcorder
Voice Recorder
Dual memory card slots
MP3 player remote
Game Boy control type add-on
Universal Remote Control Software
(came with 256mb memory stick)
This PDA is at least a 1 1/2 old, maybe more, but in actually perfect shape. It is relatively rare and a pretty good deal in regards. But, I could have got a TX or maybe even a T5 with WiFi card for the same price. Looking at the specs, what do you guys think. I am really a Clie loyalist so it did play into effect but I also am a value hunter that tries to be practical. What are your guys thoughts.

That's still a good price for an NX73 in good shape (with those extras). I'm still a 73 user but have been looking hard at the T|X since it's just about the same size as my old N760 (which I hated to retire but OS4, 33MHz, and 320x320 just didn't cut it anymore). I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna buy a new battery for my well used, sometimes cantankerous, NX73 or start bargain hunting for a T|X when the holiday sales start.
Congrats on your purchase.

Why are you taking a step back with the nx73/e when you already have the th55/e? Unless you're just gunning for a backup unit for a little less money than the th. . .I guess that would make sense because what you basically have is a slightly faster, slightly bulkier version of the th55/e with worse battery life but a keyboard and neato remote control IR capability.
I love my th55/e, but the Tx IS very appealing and my backup is the tg50 I bought to control my trv80 Sony Handycam's Bluetooth Remote Camera.
Sorry, I spoke as though it was mine. It is actually my fiances. Though, I hotsync and install everything for her as well as buy everything. Also, I wanted this one back in the day so it has sentimental value to me. Also, she basically uses it as a full computer. We have the KB100 so she types all her papers. With the bluetooth, she now has full internet support and I'm getting a bluetooth printer for her soon. She'll be able to do everything she needs straight from her NX. It actually was a cheap way out of buying a laptop.
I brought this topic up as I really could have gotten a TX for $260 and get an old palm keyboard for like 40-50. The TX has most of the specs but I think the NX with all the stuff included comes out ahead. It has better batery life and the qwerty keyboard which really can't be duplicated with any tungesten. I just wanted to hear what you guys thought or what you would've done with the same amount of money.

I am very happy with my TX so far. Some minor issues.
I do miss my CLIE jog wheel....

I would say that the main disadvantage of the NX is the battery life, especially with WiFi. That said, I don't see how people can handle a no-keyboard device as their main PDA. :-) I have a T5 for testing, but I hate not having a keyboard--my NX is much better. (E.g., it's so nice to be able to adjust screen brightness by pressing ctrl-b and using jog dial and ctrl-o (I use Capitalizer), or go back to the top of a document in Plucker by pressing H, or select names in phone book by typing, etc.)
