I don't know how long it will take until it works again :( (It converts iTunes purchased music to .mp3)

But I know how it could work...
Get iTunes to think a folder is a CD. If you could trick it to thinking that, it would "burn" the data to that folder as a .mp3. Make a iTunes do the work. Any programers out there who would know how to do this? ;)

Well, better yet, you could convince it to burn an ISO (disk image, probably easier to do than getting it to write raw audio files to a folder), extract the audio files, and then recompress them as MP3. It would actually burn them to WAV if it thought it was burning to a CD, but since WAV is uncompressed, you probably would not lose any more quality than one would encoding to MP3 normally (that is, of course, assuming that there arent any really good AAC to MP3 encoders that dont convert to wav first, in which case getting the RAW AAC would still be better).
